Ecotourism & Community-based Tourism

There is growing recognition that tourism can play an important role in the economic diversification of developing countries, by creating sustainable income growth and providing employment opportunities.

Increasingly, development projects, whether they have a multidisciplinary or purely tourism focus, pay particular attention to sustainable livelihoods, while at the same time securing the conservation of the environment for tourism.

EDG has been at work developing ecotourism policies and enterprises in many countries.  Creating the correct circumstances and incentives, and training local people in the needs of the global ecotourism market, have been at the heart of our work in Vietnam, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Gabon and Tobago.
