Sustainable Rural Livelihoods

EDG's long experience in natural resource management has led to a deep understanding of the interface between rural communities and these resources.

Through policy definition and project implementation, The Environment and Development Group encourages participatory approaches to the management of protected areas, the sustainable use of natural resources, the development of income generating activities and the promotion of equitable access to natural resources.

We have managed projects whose prime goal has been to develop rural livelihoods, particularly in relation to other land management policies.  Our work in Tobago, Vietnam, Namibia and Gabon, for example, has all been directed to this end.
