Institution Design and Governance Systems

As the role of Government and public institutions comes under ever-closer scrutiny, in countries at all stages of development, there is increasing pressure for institutions to reform:  in particular to become smaller, more flexible, more responsive, more efficient.

The Environment and Development Group provides expert advice and technical support to public and voluntary sector institutions that are undergoing reform, restructuring and change.

We have, for example, played a substantial role in the reform processes of institutions in the natural resource sectors of seven African countries.  These processes lasted from six months to three years.
