Information Systems

In order to manage resources effectively, as well as respond to commitments under international treaties, effective systems of collecting, managing and disseminating data are needed.

Using remotely sensed images, data from a wide array of sources, GIS and other data management systems, we have established a number of information management systems, each designed to meet the perceived needs of our client.

Over a four-year period we established a GIS-based information system for land-use planning and village-based natural resource use in northern Namibia.  For six years, we developed a regional network of data centres in nine south-east Asian countries, to help each manage data relevant to the conservation and management of biodiversity.  And we have recently been involved in data management for county-level biodiversity action plans in England.

We do not have an 'off the peg' product: instead, we use participatory techniques to help our clients find appropriate solutions tailored to their needs.
