Eritrea — Development of Environmental Assessment Procedures and Guidelines (World Bank; 1998)

The Department of Environment commissioned EDG to undertake the preparation of Environmental Evaluation Questionnaires (EEQ) for National Environmental Assessment Procedures. The EEQ was designed to ensure that all potential negative environmental impacts of potential projects are considered before approval is granted.

EDG worked on the identification and establishment of Working Groups for questionnaire preparation.   The questionnaires were developed to suit the requirements for the protection of the Eritrean environment as well as for the development of the Eritrean economy.  The draft questionnaires were then piloted against existing and proposed projects, with field visits being made to appropriate projects, sites and institutions.
